Stefan Radkov

The painter Stefan Radkov is one of the few, born in the City of Varna, having his life connected with his hometown and keeping in his soul the values of old times when the Sunday afternoon coffee with friends was binding. He was born in the year 1950. He owes his constructive approach and the presence of sketches in his paintings to the High School of Construction. He applied for the National Art Academy 6 years and had to fight with the old socialist requirement for his bourgeois origin. He was not admitted. However he studied graphics at the University of Veliko Tarnovo St. Ciril and Methodius in the class of Proff. Hadzhistanev and afterwards returns in Varna. He starts working as an arts teacher at the Primary School Hadzhi Dimitar and after that at St. Ciril and Methodius. At the end of 1997 he is leaving for the Dominican Republic for half year and is focused on painting. He has two one man shows in Varna and a number of participations in national and international forums. Presently his black and white drawings are exposed in Italy and Germany. He is at this moment an art teacher in the High School of Humanitarian Sciences “K. Preslavski”. In his painting he prefers the etching and lately he experiments in the field of sculpture.
